vitreomacular traction syndrome
MONDO:1060274
A vitreous and retinal disorder characterized by incomplete posterior vitreous detachment with persistent focal adhesion to the macula. This exerts anteroposterior traction that distorts foveal anatomy, causing structural changes such as foveal deformation, pseudocysts, macular schisis, cystoid macular edema, and subretinal fluid, with potential progression to a macular hole.
